Nigerian student to study medicine for free in UK

A Nigerian student studying in the United Kingdom, Aderonke Adesanoye, is one of 21 pupils of the sixth-formers at the London Academy of Excellence sent to train as doctors, dentists and vets in some of the most popular degree courses in Britain. The London Academy of Excellence, known as “the Eton of the East End” was set up with the aim of getting bright children from poor families “into the top universities”. The school offers only “hard” A-levels, such as maths, history and physics. Many teachers are Oxbridge graduates — and some of their students are now going to Oxford and Cambridge. Adesanoye is now studying medicine at Brighton and Sussex. She is the first in her family to go to university.
